истБитва произошла 19 августа 1854. Отряд из 30 солдат во главе с лейтенантом Грэттаном вошел в стойбище племени брюле около форта Ларами в Вайоминге и открыл огонь по индейцам, смертельно ранив вождя Стоящего Медведя [Conquering Bear]. Сражение завершилось полным уничтожением отряда индейцами брюле [ Brule] и миниконжу [ Minneconjou] под предводительством вождя Пятнистый Хвост [ Spotted Tail]. Произошла 3 сентября 1855 на ручье Блу [Blue Creek], Небраска, начавшись нападением пехотно-кавалерийского отряда Армии США под командованием У. Харни [Harney, William S.] на стойбище индейцев брюле [ Brule]. Погибло около 100 индейцев, столько же взято в плен; чудеса храбрости проявил вождь Пятнистый Хвост [ Spotted Tail], убивший 13 врагов.
